Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Horas

I have over four decades of surgical experience, including 11 years as a senior physician at the Berufsgenossenschaftliche Unfallklinik Frankfurt am Main (Occupational Accident Hospital Frankfurt am Main). I served as the managing senior physician and deputy director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Trauma Surgery at Justus Liebig University Giessen. Most recently, I have spent 21 years as the chief physician of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at the Varisano Clinics in the Main-Taunus district. Through my clinical work, I have gained expertise in both surgical and conservative treatment of various traumatic injuries, as well as in reconstructive surgery and musculoskeletal conservative orthopedics. My specialties include arthroscopic surgery, particularly of articular cartilage, prosthetic joint replacement for all major joints, and elective corrective procedures. The needs of our patients have always been central to my medical practice. I prioritize compassion, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration to fulfill this responsibility. My scientific work has focused on the theoretical development and preclinical testing of clinically relevant implants for the osteosynthesis of various fracture types. Additionally, I have conducted experimental and clinical research on the regeneration of autogenous articular cartilage. Through leading interdisciplinary working groups that involve scientists from fields such as structural engineering, genetics, biostatistics, and biotechnology, I have gained extensive experience in targeted scientific methods and solution-oriented communication to ensure the best possible medical care for our patients.
