About the doctor

Professor Dr. Thomas Niemeyer’s interest in treating scoliosis and other spinal deformities, such as kyphosis and spondylolisthesis, began during his residency at the Orthopaedics Department of the University Hospital in Münster, Germany, in 1995. Since then, he has dedicated his professional life to the scoliotic spine, earning recognition as an internationally renowned spinal and scoliosis surgeon. Since his move to the Asklepios Pauline Hospital in 2017, he has built a multidisciplinary team of experienced neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons who address a wide range of spinal deformities in children, adolescents, and adults. This team is equipped with the latest technology, including MRI scans, 3D imaging (such as EOS and O-Arm), navigation systems, and neuromonitoring. Together with his surgical skills and extensive experience, these resources enable Professor Niemeyer and his team to treat complex spinal deformities across all spinal regions. The anesthetic department also operates a state-of-the-art ICU/IMC and a modern pain management program, ensuring both young and older patients receive the care and support necessary for a quick and comfortable recovery from these life-changing surgeries. In his weekly clinics, Professor Niemeyer advises patients on all aspects of conservative and operative treatment for spinal conditions. Since its establishment, the scoliosis department has become a center where both national and international patients seek assistance.
