Lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

Hernias of the lower eyelids (eyebags) make a face look much older, and the person looks tired, unhealthy, and stale. Unfortunately, they are one of those aesthetic defects corrected exclusively by surgical intervention. Classical eyelid surgery, so-called blepharoplasty, can remove hernias and excess skin. The plastic surgeon chooses the access method, considering the patient's age, skin condition, and excess lower eyelid skin. Lower eyelid surgery can be performed without external incisions through the mucous membrane inside the eyelid. Moreover, this is instead not an incision but a puncture. After surgery, the patient doesn't even need to apply stitches. If there are no skin surpluses, the operation is performed with an incision in the subcutaneous area, which will not be noticeable in the future because it is done along the line of the natural border. With an external incision, the surgeon peels off the skin with the muscle, removes fat hernias and excess skin, and closes the incision with a cosmetic suture. Fat bags are not only excised. Plastic surgeons can also evenly redistribute adipose tissue and stitch it along the lower edge of the orbit. The operation takes 1 hour or a bit more. After surgery, swelling and bruising are possible, which usually go away on days 3-5.
