One-sided total hip replacement involves removing the diseased part of the hip joint. It is then replaced by an artificial hip known as a prosthesis. Hip replacement surgery is performed in such cases as progressive arthritis of the hip joint, the development of a hip dislocation, or a fracture of the hip bone. Hip arthroplasty aims to eliminate pain and limit hip movement by replacing worn and damaged hip joint parts with new and synthetic structures with similar properties. Hip replacement surgery is performed through a 10-20 cm skin incision. The damaged femoral head is removed and replaced with a SMITH & NEPHEW prosthesis during the operation. Our partnership with Smith & Nephew allows us to utilize their cutting-edge prosthesis technology, which is renowned for its durability, biomechanical compatibility, and long-term performance. To preserve the integrity of the nervous system during total hip replacement, "neuromonitoring" is used, which provides the surgeon with information about nerve conduction and contributes significantly to preserving the integrity of the nerve tissue. The duration of one-sided hip replacement surgery can vary from 1 to 1,5 hours. Patients usually start walking with support (walker, cane with a bracelet) on the day of surgery or the next day. You can sit, stand, and go up and down stairs with the help of a support. Patients who can perform these movements without difficulty and with balance can leave the hospital and go home if their overall health is appropriate.
