Polycystic kidney disease treatment with robotic kidney surgery

Robotic-assisted surgeries are proven to be more accurate, associated with lower risks of complications, and generally more effective results than open and laparoscopic approaches. Surgeries that aim to remove the kidney affected by polycystic kidney disease (PKD) are no exception. Currently, medical practitioners gathered a profound database that confirms the high effectiveness of treatment results achieved during robotic-assisted surgeries in general and performed with DaVinci robotic systems in particular. The patient must undergo some pre-surgery preparations and examinations before the beginning of the treatment, including some lab tests, medical imaging procedures, and more. The surgery requires general anesthesia. When the patient is unconscious, the surgeon's assistants place the DaVinci system above the patient, and the surgeon begins a treatment while staying away from the surgery room. By manipulating the DaVinci system, the surgeon created a few incisions to insert cameras and manipulators and began removing the kidney affected by PKD. At the very end, the doctor ensures no additional sources of bleeding or other issues and places a few stitches on the wound.
