Sarcoma treatment with immunotherapy

Sarcoma is an aggressive cancer tumor requiring combined treatment. Therefore immunotherapy plays a vital role in sarcoma cases. Immuno drugs are targeted medications that activate and burst the immune system to fight against malignant cells. The immune system requires that help because malignant tumors such as sarcoma deactivate and hide from immune cells. As a rule, immunotherapeutic drugs are administered by intravenous drip infusion. However, the treatment can be prescribed in a single mode (only one drug) and complex therapy with chemotherapy drugs. That is called chemoimmunotherapy. The effectiveness of treatment is evaluated using control studies — instrumental and laboratory (blood tests). If the size of the tumor and metastases decrease, this means that immunotherapy is working successfully. Not each sarcoma patient is indicated for immunotherapy. Instead, oncologists study each case to confirm that the structure of the tumor responds to existing immune drugs. However, since medications can be used, the therapy might be highly efficient even in advanced sarcoma cases. In addition, the treatment works naturally and doesn't harm other organs. As a result, tumors decrease in size regardless of the location.
