Orthodontic plates

Orthodontic plates, or removable orthodontic appliances, are custom-made devices made of plastic or acrylic to align and straighten teeth. These plates can be used for various orthodontic issues, such as correcting crooked teeth, fixing overbites or underbites, and treating jaw problems. Dentists recommend orthodontic plates for children and young teenagers with mild to moderate orthodontic issues whose jaws are still growing and developing. To prepare for orthodontic plate treatment, a patient should undergo a clinical history-taking and physical examination with a dentist. In addition, a panoramic X-ray, CT scan, and 3D computer planning may also be used to diagnose and plan the treatment. The process typically lasts five days and is done on an outpatient basis. Before the procedure, the patient will be prepared by cleaning their teeth and ensuring that the orthodontic plate fits appropriately. Then, the orthodontic plate will be inserted and adjusted as necessary. Post-procedure care is essential to ensure proper alignment. Symptomatic treatment may also be required to relieve discomfort or pain. The cost of essential medicines and materials, as well as nursing services, should also be considered. Patients should also receive discharge medical records and recommendations for ongoing care, such as wearing plates to avoid certain foods.
