Vulvar cancer treatment with immunotherapy

In some cases, immunotherapy is effective in the treatment of vulvar cancer. It is aimed at activating the proper patient's immunity. Different immune drugs have various mechanisms of action. Some themselves trigger the process of cancer cell death. Others stop tumor growth. Still, others identify and label cancer cells, making them visible to other antitumor methods – for example, radiotherapy. One of the medications that is frequently used is pembrolizumab. Before the procedure, the woman's blood is examined for specific changes in the cancer cells to determine sensitivity to this method. Immunotherapy drugs are usually administered intravenously. As a rule, it is carried out under the supervision of an oncologist-chemotherapist. The dosage and treatment regimen depending on the type of therapy. The procedure does not last long, so hospitalization is not required. The treatment often involves the administration of several doses of the drug over a certain period. Treatment tolerability is assessed at each visit to the doctor, and laboratory parameters are evaluated every 2-6 weeks (depending on the risk of complications).
