About the doctor

Vivian E Drory is the Director of the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit at the Department of Neurology, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. She is a Professor of Neurology at Tel-Aviv University and the Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine (Tel-Aviv University). Her main research interests are in the genetics, epidemiology, and biomarkers of motor neuron diseases (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, primary lateral sclerosis, and adult spinal muscular atrophy). Prof. Vivian Drory is a neurologist at Tel-Aviv Medical Center in Tel-Aviv and is deeply involved in caring for patients with ALS. She studied medicine at Heidelberg Medical School in Germany, trained in neurology at Tel-Aviv Medical Center, and studied neuromuscular diseases and neurophysiology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. For the last 20 years, she has led the first and largest ALS clinic in Israel and contributed to the establishment of modern approaches to patient care and support and a better understanding of disease mechanisms through extensive basic and clinical research. Areas of particular interest and occupation: Diseases of motor neurons - ALS, SMA, PLS, diseases of peripheral nerves and muscles, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; Hereditary aspects in families and complex inheritance in sporadic cases; Advanced imaging methods; Early diagnosis using biological markers.
