About the hospital

Rambam Health Care Campus Haifa is a highly specialized medical facility founded in 1938. The hospital is the largest medical center in northern Israel and the fifth largest in Israel. The medical center is named after the 12th-century physician-philosopher Rabbi Moshe Ben-Maimon, known as the Rambam.

The Rambam Health Care Campus is a 1,000-bed academic hospital serving more than 2 million residents of Northern Israel. Every year, the medical team treats more than 100,000 inpatients and 750,000 outpatients and performs more than 60,000 surgical procedures. Rambam is a tertiary referral center for 12 district hospitals and provides comprehensive medical services across all medical specialties. The medical center has 36 departments, 45 medical units, nine institutes, six laboratories, and 30 administrative departments. The clinic's commitment spans the entire spectrum of patient care, from the best treatments and therapies to supporting clinical research.

The Rambam Health Care Campus was recently recognized as one of the most recommended hospitals in Israel. In addition to citizens of Northern Israel, Rambam serves with the Israel Defense Forces Northern Command, the UN Peacekeeping Forces, and the US 6th Fleet. Many of Rambam's doctors are internationally renowned in their clinical specialties. Physicians are involved in cutting-edge research projects to bring new treatment methods. In 2013, Rambam doctors successfully performed the first brain ablation on a patient with essential tremors using MRI-guided ultrasound instead of surgery.

Leading departments at the Rambam Health Care Campus include oncology and hemato-oncology, cardiac surgery, orthopedics, and neurosurgery. In addition, Rambam is the only provider of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy in Northern Israel. The new pediatric emergency department opened in 2014 and is the largest and most modern in Israel. The medical staff has exceptional experience diagnosing and treating patients, confirming their qualifications and professionalism.

About the city

Haifa is one of Israel's largest and most exciting cities, the main port and commercial and administrative center of the country's north. The town is known throughout Israel for its mixed population. The result is a fantastic fusion of Arab and Jewish cultures throughout the city.

Haifa's most popular and unique attraction is the Baha'i Gardens, nineteen long terraces of breathtaking gardens stretching to the northern slope of Mount Carmel. The gardens are works of art around the beautiful pagan shrine of Bhab. In addition, Mount Carmel is home to the fascinating Haifa Zoo, which has over 100 species of wild animals. A major cultural event in Haifa is the International Film Festival. Haifa is turning into a party city with over a hundred films of all genres. No less popular among locals and tourists are the funiculars of the Haifa cable car. Three oversized, transparent balls are sent by cable car from the Bat Galim area to the Carmelite monastery and back. Passengers from a bird's eye can enjoy a beautiful view of the city, stretching out over the blue bay and disappearing at the top of Mount Carmel.

A common Israeli saying, "Haifa works, Jerusalem prays, and Tel Aviv plays," testifies to Haifa's reputation as a city of workers and industry. The town has many Israeli and international high-tech companies, such as Apple, Amazon, Intel, Google, and others. There are more than a dozen museums and galleries in Haifa. The National Museum of Science, Technology, and Space, with almost 150,000 visitors annually, is the most famous. Haifa's medical facilities have a total of 4,000 hospital beds. The largest hospital is the Rambam State Hospital, which provides medical services far beyond the borders of Israel.

Haifa offers its guests a wide variety of pastimes. The city has picturesque beaches for relaxing near the sea and green parks for outdoor walks. There are many boutiques and shops for those who like shopping in the Haifa Central Market. Even though Haifa does not have an abundance of noisy nightclubs, several popular bars and restaurants offer guests an exciting evening program. As a result, the city leaves a good impression and a desire to return.
