Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Nadine Lehnen

Prof. Dr. med. Nadine Lehnen is Full Professor and Chair of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at Cologne University Hospital, where she leads the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy. She is board certified in Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy as well as in Neurology. In addition to her medical degree from LMU Munich, she holds a Master of Philosophy in Biological Science from the University of Cambridge (UK). Her clinical and academic focus is on functional disorders, persistent and distressing bodily symptoms such as paralysis, dizziness, pain, or bowel problems that are not sufficiently explained by structural bodily dysfunction. She has particular expertise in the multidisciplinary treatment of severe functional disorders, especially when occurring in the context of complex post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and severe bodily diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, or cardiac disease. A book describing this treatment approach is called "Somatic Symptom Disorder, Functional Body Complaints" and is publiched in 2025.
