Prof. Dr. med. Marc José Henri Hendrikx, MD, PhD, FEBCTS

Prof. Dr. Marc José Henri Hendrikx is an internationally recognized expert in adult cardiovascular surgery, boasting over three decades of clinical experience. He studied medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium and earned his doctorate in 1994 with a dissertation on "Endogenous Myocardial Protection Against Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury. " Since 1995, he has been a certified cardiac surgeon and a member of the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (FETCS). Having performed more than 4,000 cardiac surgical procedures independently, Prof. Hendrikx possesses extensive expertise in his field. His specific areas of specialization include mitral valve reconstruction, minimally invasive heart surgery, and arterial coronary artery bypass surgery, both with and without the use of a heart-lung machine. His professional career has taken him to prominent positions in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Notably, he served as the Clinic Director at Sint-Elisabeth Hospital in Zottegem and as a Senior Physician and Head of Research at the University Hospital Zurich. In addition to his clinical work, Prof. Hendrikx is deeply committed to scientific research and has published numerous papers, particularly on reconstructive aortic valve surgery and minimally invasive procedures.
