About the offer

Hip Replacement Surgery at the Endoprosthetics Center of Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria-Clinic (Berlin-Schöneberg) is delivered through an EndoCert-recognized Endoprosthetic Centre (EPZmax) focused on primary hip arthroplasty and complex revision care. It has been acknowledged as an EPZmax since 2014 under the EndoCert quality initiative of the German professional societies, positioning the program around audited structures, implant quality, and standardized treatment. Designated senior lead surgeons here perform at least 100 endoprosthetic procedures per year, and additional principal surgeons perform at least 50 endoprosthetic procedures per year, reflecting the center’s emphasis on routine expertise in both primary and revision arthroplasty. For hip replacement, we plan the procedure individually and select the implant concept that best matches your anatomy, bone quality, age, activity level, and the extent of joint damage. A hip endoprosthesis replaces the worn bony joint partners while preserving muscles, tendons, and ligaments through minimally invasive, tissue-sparing surgical techniques. Depending on your bone situation, we anchor the implant either cementless (the standard approach when bone quality is good, designed for long-term durability through bone ingrowth) or cemented (a particularly secure fixation option when bone strength is reduced or when bone shape requires it, without disadvantages for long-term function and durability). We structure recovery around fast, safe mobilization and functional independence. After hip surgery, you stay with us in the hospital for about five days, and we monitor your recovery closely while working with you every day on rehabilitation goals so that mobility and function of the new joint progress reliably. Our physiotherapy team meets you before surgery to practice essential movements and prepare you for the key points that matter for your independence after the operation. The follwing materials can be used at Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria-Clinic as the hip implant materials:Acetabular cup: usually metal (titanium);Liner/insert (Inlay): a very stable, highly cross-linked plastic, less commonly ceramic or metal;Femoral head: mostly ceramic, less commonly metal;Femoral stem: usually metal, such as titanium or a stainless-steel alloy;Fixation: either cementless (bone ingrowth) or cemented with bone cement. You are usually back on your feet on the day of surgery, and at the latest on the first day after surgery, supported by nursing and physiotherapy, enabled by gentle operative techniques and effective pain management. Immediate mobilization is a core principle for us because it supports faster healing and reduces the risk of complications. From the start, we actively train everyday movements such as sitting down and standing up, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting, continuing through discharge.
