About the offer

Colon tumor removal using laparoscopy is a probe and camera-guided surgery aiming to remove the affected bowel and the tumor. Colon removal can be performed partially or entirely. Partial removal is resorted to with small tumor sizes. Before surgery, the patient undergoes a standard medical examination. Preparation includes cleaning the intestines on the eve of surgery. The surgery lasts 2-3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The patient is sleeping deeply and is not aware of his condition. The surgeon makes 3-4 small punctures, no more than 1 cm. All instruments are inserted into the abdomen through special tubes - trocars. A laparoscope, with a mini-camera at the end, is inserted through a hole in the navel area. Surgical instruments, such as clamps, scalpels, and scissors, are inserted into other holes. To facilitate access to the colon, the surgeon injects carbon dioxide into the abdomen (as if inflating the stomach). All manipulations are carried out under the control of the video image received on the monitor. The colon is disconnected from the blood supply and removed. The formed ends are sewn together with a needle and thread or connected with unique staples. The postoperative period usually lasts several days.
