Department of vascular and endovascular surgery
The department of vascular and endovascular surgery at University Hospital rechts der Isar of the Technical University (TUM) Munich treats more than 1,400 inpatient cases every year. In addition, there are more than 7,000 outpatients. Since 2012, a hybrid operating room has been available for image-guided open or endovascular therapy using a high-resolution angiography system. Since 2019 Europe's newest hybrid operating room system from PHILIPS is also at the disposal of highly qualified surgeons. The new system offers doctors the opportunity to perform complicated vascular surgery procedures using the catheter method with live X-ray imaging. All the necessary data and images are immediately available in high-resolution quality. This is particularly important in the endovascular therapy of aortic diseases in the context of bypass operations or primary endovascular treatments. Open procedures can also be combined very well with various catheter techniques.
The department deals with circulatory disorders in the extremities, enlargement of the aorta, narrowing of the carotid artery, shunting and vein surgery, and all acute and chronic diseases of the arteries and veins at a state-of-the-art medical level. Treatment offered includes conservative, endovascular, and open surgery.
