About the department

The gastroenterology department at Kardiolita Hospital Vilnius offers a full range of medical services for patients with gastrointestinal, liver and biliary tract diseases. Doctors pay special attention to the early diagnosis of oncological diseases. The medical team examines patients at increased risk of cancer for upper and lower gastrointestinal tract changes. Endoscopic examinations are carried out using a variety of modern equipment. Gastroenterologists use the latest generation equipment for diagnostic procedures: the Evis Exera III Olympus endoscopic colonoscopy system and the Exera III Olympus gastroscope. Endoscopic methods can detect polyps, benign and malignant colon tumours, and, if necessary, take a biopsy. In the case of an oncological disease, patients are assigned individual treatment on an interdisciplinary basis.

In addition to oncological diseases, doctors specialize in the conservative treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and functional disorders. Specialists select tailored therapy for each patient, aiming to eliminate the cause of the disease, relief dyspeptic symptoms and reduce damage to the digestive organs. Treatment mainly consists of drug therapy and diet therapy. Also, gastroenterologists have exceptional experience in minimally invasive interventions, including polypectomy and mucosectomy.
