1992-2000 Studied human medicine at Charité, Humboldt University of Berlin. This included periods of study abroad in Lund (Sweden), London, Southampton (UK), Bradfield (UK), and Liestal (Switzerland). Recipient of a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation.
1995-2000 Doctorate under Prof. Dr. Pfitzer at the Physiological Institute of the Humboldt University of Berlin, graduated with "summa cum laude".
