Dr. Ajet Xhafa

Dr. Ajet Xhafa graduated in October 2006 from the Faculty of Medicine at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy in Ankara, Turkey. He then pursued a specialization and became a Urology Specialist in 2011 at the same institution. The Gulhane Military Medical Academy is recognized as one of Turkey's hospitals with the highest number of surgeries and for its use of the latest medical technology. This environment allowed Dr. Xhafa to work alongside renowned urologists from Turkey and around the world during his education and specialization. With the ongoing support of his professors, he advanced significantly in Endourology, Uro-Oncology, Andrology, and Pediatric Urological Surgery. After successfully completing his specialization in 2011, Dr. Xhafa chose to return to Albania to practice, despite having the option to continue his career in Turkey. Dr. Ajet Xhafa has made a significant impact through his work in Albania and Kosovo, renowned for his excellent patient relationships and exceptional performance. He has achieved remarkable success with his innovative procedures, particularly in closed kidney stone surgeries (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy), which have demonstrated a high success rate across the Balkan region. His accomplishments were highlighted at the World Endourology Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2016. Dr. Xhafa's presentations showcased some of the first instances of these procedures being performed in Tirana and Prishtina. He has conducted numerous surgeries on adults, including treatments for prostate enlargement, urethral strictures, and both closed and open surgeries for urinary tract stones, whether in the ureter or kidney. He was also responsible for the first cases of nephrostomy placement in Kosovo and the first laparoscopic surgeries for kidney cysts, ureter stones, and kidney removal performed by Albanian doctors. In addition, Dr. Xhafa has successfully carried out various closed surgeries for bladder, kidney, and prostate cancer. A vital part of his work in Pristina, Kosovo, includes interventions on children with congenital conditions such as hypospadias, undescended testicles, vesicoureteral reflux (VUR), and ureterocele, among others. Dr. Ajet Xhafa is the regional representative for the Urolithiasis (urinary tract stones) group of the European Association of Urologists (EAU) and is involved in the working group focused on metabolic assessment and scientific research related to kidney stone disease. He is a member of numerous national and international urological associations, including the European Association of Urologists (EAU) since 2007, the World Endourology Association, the Turkish Urological Association since 2006, the Turkish Endourology Association, and the Albanian and Kosovo Urological Associations. Additionally, he has been part of the organizing staff for several national and international urology courses. His dedication, commitment, and continuous efforts reflect his passion for the profession and contribute to his growing success.
