When Ms. Poonam from India was told she had lung fibrosis, her world became filled with uncertainty.

Breathing, something most people rarely think about, suddenly became deeply connected to questions, worry, and the need for answers. Like many patients facing a complex lung condition, she wanted more than just a diagnosis. The patient wanted clarity, expert guidance, and confidence that she was doing everything possible for her health.

Wanting a thorough pulmonary evaluation at a leading medical center, Ms. Poonam turned to the Airomedical platform and their network for support. The team helped organize her care and matched her with PD. Dr. med. Gregor Zimmermann at University Hospital Rechts der Isar in Munich, one of Germany’s respected university hospitals.

For Ms. Poonam, this was not simply a medical trip. It was an important step in understanding what was really happening in her body and what should come next.

Indian Patient's Feedback on Airomedical Network Service in MunichIn Munich, she underwent a comprehensive pulmonary examination, including a high-resolution CT scan, serology testing, bronchoalveolar lavage, and detailed pulmonary assessment. These tests were carefully planned to give the doctors a more complete picture of her lung condition.

The results showed interstitial lung disease of unknown origin, ground-glass opacities in both upper lobes, and minimal fibrotic changes in the lungs.

Although the findings confirmed that her condition was complex, the evaluation also brought something invaluable: direction. Instead of remaining uncertain, Ms. Poonam now has a more up-to-date and detailed understanding of her health. That alone can be a huge relief for patients who have been living with fear and unanswered questions. But her journey did not end with the lungs.

Because the medical team wanted to assess her condition more comprehensively, Poonam was referred for an additional cardiological examination and a heart MRI. For patients with complex pulmonary diseases, this kind of coordinated care can make an enormous difference. It means doctors are not only looking at one isolated problem, but at the whole person.

Airomedical then arranged a fast next-day appointment for her with Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Ludwig Laugwitz, also at the same clinic. This allowed her to continue her evaluation smoothly, without the added stress of changing hospitals or navigating a new system on her own.

With both pulmonary and cardiological specialists involved, the patient received valuable recommendations and an updated view of her diagnosis. More importantly, she felt supported throughout the process, medically, practically, and personally.

After her first examination, she shared these kind words:

“Everything went very well. You have a wonderful team. The doctor was really good, and Nur (Interpreter) did an excellent job.”

Later, after completing both her lung and heart check-ups in Germany, she wrote:

“Just finished my Lungs and heart check-up at TUM Germany. Dr. Laugwitz and Dr. Zimmermann were absolutely brilliant. Thanks to Airomedical. Great team and service. The medical travel team, Ellie and Julia, were really helpful and supportive. My interpreter, Nur, was always on hand. Would highly recommend for International patients.”

Her feedback reflects something many international patients feel during treatment abroad: excellent care is not only about the doctors and technology. It is also about being understood, feeling safe, and knowing there is a team beside you at every stage.

Later, she also asked about the possibility of further pulmonary rehabilitation. However, because her lung function had improved, it may not be necessary at this point. That, too, was encouraging news, a reminder that progress is possible, and that treatment plans should always reflect how a patient is doing now, not only where they started.

This story is one of courage, trust, and the importance of seeking the right expertise. Faced with a difficult lung diagnosis, she chose not to remain in doubt. She chose to search for answers, to take action, and to place her health in the hands of an experienced multidisciplinary team.

For other patients living with pulmonary fibrosis or unclear interstitial lung disease, her experience offers hope. With the right specialists, a coordinated evaluation, support, and even a frightening diagnosis can become more manageable.
