Jaw Tumor Surgery in Germany: Story of Peter (Hong Kong)
Peter is from Hong Kong and came to Germany with a clear goal: to address a jaw problem safely and effectively, without wasting time on uncertainty. That is why he contacted Airomedical. Peter’s main request was simple: find the best maxillofacial surgeon for this case and organize treatment in Germany with a clear plan.
After examinations, he received a diagnosis that sounded scary at first. It was an odontogenic myxoma of the right mandible. This is a rare tumor that grows inside the jawbone and can slowly destroy bone tissue. Peter understood that this was not a case for delays or half-measures. He wanted a top specialist and a clinic that handles complex maxillofacial surgery on a high level.
The patient has already used the Airomedical doctors search section to find potential surgeons. The agency coordinated the process and arranged his care at University Hospital Rechts der Isar in Munich, where Prof. Dr. Klaus Dietrich Wolff personally performed the surgery. The travel team also supported Peter with the medical paperwork and helped him obtain the medical visa, which made the entire journey much smoother.
When Peter arrived in Munich, the admission examination was calm and structured. The clinical examination revealed no visible pathology. But the most important answers came from three-dimensional imaging (DVT). The scan revealed a lytic, multi-chambered change in the right lower jaw. It was affecting the area around the root tips, and teeth 42, 43, and 44 were involved in the osteolytic process.
After discussing the findings, the team and Peter agreed: the tumor needed to be resected, and some nearby teeth were not worth preserving.
The surgery took place under general anesthesia and included resection of the odontogenic myxoma, removal of the non-preservable teeth 42, 43, and 44, harvesting a bone graft from the right pelvis, and inserting that pelvic bone graft into the jaw to support reconstruction.
On the second postoperative day, the drainage from the right pelvis was removed on time. Peter’s recovery progressed steadily, and he was discharged in good general condition after 3 days of inpatient care for outpatient follow-up.
After the treatment, Peter flew back home to Hong Kong with a follow-up plan and peace of mind. In his review on Airomedical, he wrote:
