Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Wadsak, PhD

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Wadsak is a distinguished chemist and radiopharmaceutical scientist serving as an Associate Professor of Medicinal Radiochemistry at the Medical University of Vienna. With over two decades of expertise, he leads the Medicinal Radiochemistry and Biomarker Development Unit within the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy. His work primarily focuses on the development and evaluation of PET radiopharmaceuticals, bridging basic chemical research and clinical applications. Beyond his primary academic role, Dr. Wadsak is a key figure in the European nuclear medicine community, having held significant leadership positions, including Secretary and Treasurer of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). His current professional focus extends into translational medicine as the Managing Director of microONE at CBmed GmbH, where he oversees innovative research in biomarker discovery and the impact of micro- and nanoplastics on human health. He is also a dedicated educator, lecturing extensively on radiopharmacy and radiation protection across several Austrian institutions.
