radiation oncology

About the department

The radiation oncology department at Teknon Medical Center Barcelona is a leading centre specializing in radiation therapy for oncological diseases. One of the department's priorities is to achieve excellence in every aspect of services, including patient care, clinical research, treatment, cancer follow-up and prevention, and community and professional education. The department's medical staff consists of a wide range of specialists specializing in central nervous system diseases (neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, radio-oncologists and radiologists). Each physician, assisted by a team of technicians and nurses, works with cutting-edge technology to maximize the treatment of benign and malignant tumours.

The department's specialists focus on the non-surgical treatment of brain tumours or vascular malformations. The department has at its disposal Novalis Shaped Beam Surgery™, which is an advanced system for stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy. The treatment is painless and helps avoid extended hospitalization or lengthy rehabilitation periods. The patient remains conscious throughout the intervention. After completing treatment with Novalis, patients can return home the same day to their usual activities.
