One-sided total hip revision surgery is a procedure performed to replace a previously implanted hip prosthesis with a new one. This is often necessary due to complications or failure of the original implant, such as loosening, wear, or dislocation. The surgery involves removing the old components, repairing bone loss or damage, and placing new implants. A complete revision of the hip joint usually lasts 2 to 4 hours and is performed through a 10-20 cm skin incision. We use SMITH & NEPHEW prostheses because their materials are certified and recognized all over the world. In addition, these prostheses have a low risk of rejection and are durable. An important aspect is also the smoothness of movements and the ability to postpone joint replacement operations for a more extended period than in conventional standard prostheses. To preserve the integrity of the nervous system during total hip replacement, "neuromonitoring" is used, which provides the surgeon with information about nerve conduction and contributes significantly to preserving the integrity of the nerve tissue. Patients usually start walking with support (walker, cane with a bracelet) on the day of surgery or the next day. You can sit, stand, and go up and down stairs with the help of a support. Patients who can perform these movements without difficulty and with balance can leave the hospital and go home if their overall health is appropriate.
