Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction is a surgical procedure used to repair or reconstruct a torn posterior cruciate ligament, a major ligament in the knee joint. Although posterior cruciate ligament tears are less common than anterior cruciate ligament tears, they can also occur from a direct blow to the front of the knee or sudden hyperextension of the knee joint.
