About the offer

Two-sided manual knee replacement surgery is a surgical procedure performed manually using standard surgical instruments and equipment. During the procedure, both legs' damaged knee joint surfaces are removed and replaced with metal alloy and polyethylene parts. Knee replacement surgery is performed in cases of severe arthritis and serious injuries to the knee, such as fractures. Two-sided manual knee replacement surgery aims to alleviate the patient's complaints and restore the functions of the knee joint by replacing the damaged parts of the knee joint with an artificial joint called a knee prosthesis. During surgical intervention, the damaged cartilage and bone areas on the surface of the knee joints are removed. In their place, our team installs new certified prostheses made of metal and polyethylene alloys, such as SMITH & NEPHEW ANTHEM. Two-sided manual knee replacement surgery takes approximately 2 hours. After prosthetic surgery, the patient is sent to the rehabilitation room, where he is monitored until he comes out of anesthesia and then taken to his room in the clinic. The rehabilitation process after knee replacement surgery begins immediately after the operation. After the anesthesia wears off, physiotherapists start performing exercises for the knees. A physical therapist teaches the patient a program of exercises at home to strengthen muscles. Patients who are well-mobile and able to walk down the hall can be discharged from the hospital on the same or the next day. Although the recovery process after knee replacement surgery varies from patient to patient, most patients can return to their daily activities within a few weeks. Regular physical therapy and exercise after surgery can help speed up recovery and improve mobility and range of motion. After knee replacement surgery, crutches may ease movements that stress the knee, such as going up and down stairs, and walking distance may be gradually increased. Generally, patients can return to housework, driving, and traveling 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.

To whom can orthopedists recommend knee replacement surgery?

Patients with knee pain that occurs even during rest or causes them to wake up at night are candidates for such an operation. In addition, severe knee pain that limits daily life and the inadequacy of non-surgical treatment methods expands the list.

Can I have my medical examinations in Turan Turan?

Of course, you can. The advantage of coming to Turan & Turan Clinic for your examinations is that we can complete all the examinations and doctor controls in 4-5 hours. You will have the most accurate treatment plan for eliminating your complaints from the most professional orthopedic doctors.

What conditions should I follow after knee replacement surgery?

Typically, the patient should have fall precautions at home and take pain relievers. Avoid putting too much stress on the knee in the first days after surgery, and regularly do the exercises that our physiotherapist will teach you. We also recommend maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

What are the advantages of SMITH & NEPHEW ANTHEM prostheses?

SMITH & NEPHEW ANTHEM prostheses are designed to improve the anatomical fit of the implant, taking into account the anatomical differences between the world's ethnic representatives. In addition, prostheses are widely used by well-known doctors because they have a low risk of complications and a long service life.

Is it possible to do an MRI for patients with a joint prosthesis?

MRI is not recommended for patients with pacemakers, cochlear implants, artificial heart valves, and metal clips attached to blood vessels in the brain. However, hip and knee arthroplasties, for example, do not interfere with MRI, and, in general, MRI does not affect metal orthopedic implants.

What are the contraindications for knee replacement surgery?

Severe cardiovascular disease, poor general health, active infection in the knee joint, and poor bone quality are general contraindications to knee replacement surgery.
