Labial reduction surgery (labiaplasty)

Intimate plastic surgery (labiaplasty) is mainly performed for aesthetic reasons when asymmetry, hyperpigmentation, and excessive folding of the labia cause constant discomfort. The plastic surgeon will change its shape and size during the operation and correct visual defects. Labiaplasty is a short-term operation lasting no more than 30-60 minutes, performed under local anesthesia. It is often combined with a reduction in the hood of the clitoris to improve sexual sensitivity. At the same time, doctors can perform the surgical reduction of the labia majora and minora. The operation removes excess skin tissue and mucosa according to a pre-applied marking. Depending on the defect, the physician can do a linear or V-shaped resection of a fragment of the skin and the inner lining of the labia. In the first case, one continuous incision removes excess tissue, including the outer edges. In the second case, a V-shaped wedge is removed from the labia tissue using the method of curly plastic surgery, and the remaining tissue is stitched. That is a more complex procedure, with short incisions along the width of the labia rather than along its edge. In the end, the surgeon applies absorbable sutures that securely hold the edges of the wound during recovery and then dissolve after 6-8 weeks.
