Liver cancer treatment with liver transplant surgery

Liver transplant surgery treats liver cancer that hasn't responded to other treatments, like chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It is usually only suggested for people with advanced liver cancer who are healthy enough to undergo surgery. Before the surgery, the patient will be carefully checked out to see if they are a good candidate for a liver transplant. This evaluation could include blood tests, imaging studies, and a physical exam. The surgery can take a few hours while the patient is asleep. The patient's liver is removed during the procedure, and the donor's liver is put in its place.  A team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical experts does the transplant surgery. During and after the surgery, doctors will closely watch the patient to make sure the transplant goes well and to solve any problems that might come up. After the surgery, the patient stays in the hospital for several weeks to recover. They will also need immunosuppressants to keep the body from rejecting the new liver. To help make sure the transplant works, they will also have to follow a strict medical plan. Liver transplant surgery is a complex procedure, not for everyone with liver cancer.
