Lip lift surgery (bullhorn)

Bullhorn is a type of cheiloplasty to lift the upper lip. It is slightly raised and made more voluminous. As a result, the smile becomes more open, and the facial expression becomes friendly and harmonious. That is achieved by reducing the skin part between the lips and nose. The seam follows the contours of the natural border of the base of the nose and resembles the shape of a bull's horns. Due to this shape, the seam becomes almost invisible in the future. Operation bullhorn is carried out in several stages. First, the preoperative marking is carefully applied. Next, the patient is injected with anesthesia. Under the base of the nose, the plastic surgeon makes a neat incision and removes a thin strip of skin up to 0. 4 – 0. 7 cm. Then the skin of the upper lip is lifted. Its red border turns outwards. At the same time, only the part of the upper lip under the base of the nose is raised – this improves the shape of the lips. Then the doctor applies stitches. The rehabilitation period takes no more than a week. The scar, after healing, is reliably hidden by the anatomical structures of the nose and is almost invisible.
