About the offer

Cervix removal surgery, so-called trachelectomy, may be performed to remove the cervix while preserving the uterus for future pregnancy. Indications for a trachelectomy for cervical cancer treatment may include early-stage cervical cancer in young women who wish to maintain their fertility. The procedure can also be performed for other cervical conditions that require the removal of the cervix. As a rule, a trachelectomy operation for cervical cancer treatment is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes several hours to finish. First, the surgeon will make an incision in the vagina and remove the cervix and a portion of the upper vagina. The remaining uterus is then attached to the top of the vagina. Most women can expect to return to normal activities within 4-6 weeks. However, follow-up care and monitoring may be necessary to ensure that cancer has been effectively treated and does not return. The benefits of a trachelectomy include the preservation of fertility in young women and the ability to carry a pregnancy to term. In addition, the procedure is less invasive than a hysterectomy and has a lower risk of complications and side effects.
