Skin cancer treatment with laser surgery

Laser surgery for skin cancer is gaining popularity among surgeons and patients worldwide. This treatment method is traditionally related to fever number of complications, helps avoid unnecessary scarring, and prevents possible infections. In addition, laser surgery suits well for treating skin cancer with a sensitive location site (for example, face skin). Unfortunately, this method might be used only for patients with skin surface lesions, not inner metastatic ones. Before starting the treatment, doctors will carefully examine all patient’s previous medical records and confirm the diagnosis to prevent unnecessary medical actions. As the diagnosis is approved, the patient undergoes treatment, which sometimes doesn’t require additional anesthesia. Doctors use a highly focused beam of light to destroy tumor tissues and slightly burn the tumor’s site, which helps prevent possible relapses. After the surgery, some parts of the patient’s tumor will be sent to perform a histopathological specimen examination to get all the necessary information about the features and type of skin cancer. It will help to inform the patient of all possible outcomes and prepare for additional treatment if necessary. Laser surgery is also helpful in treating so-called pre-cancer skin conditions (like actinic keratosis).
