Adrenal cancer treatment with chemotherapy

Adrenal cancer response rates for chemotherapy are deeply related to the type, stage, and grade. Also, patients’ condition plays a significant role in whether chemotherapy would be effective. Overall, chemotherapy shows, on average, 30 to 90% response rates among patients. Yet, it remains one of the most preferred and widely used methods for advanced-stage cancer, especially when distant metastases are discovered. Often, chemotherapy becomes the most effective treatment method for patients who can’t undergo surgery for some reason. Currently, oncologists use doxorubicin, cisplatin, mitotane, 5 fluorouracil, paclitaxel, and dozens of other medications for chemotherapy of adrenal cancer. The dosage, drug amount, and course number vary in different cases. Yet, oncologists must evaluate the patient’s overall health condition to ensure that they might undergo chemo successfully. Oncologists prefer to prescribe chemotherapy as the solution and deliver it via intravenous injections or droppers. Still, oral administration forms are also available and usually used when the patient faces overexpressed toxic effects or can’t use solutions for any other reason. On average, a single treatment session takes up to a few hours. The rest period between treatment sessions is mostly between 2 and 4 weeks. A single course of chemo might take up to 8-15 treatment sessions.
