Migraine diagnosis

Migraine is a prevalent and incapacitating headache worldwide. Symptoms of an attack usually involve a throbbing headache on one side of the head, accompanied by feelings of nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and weakness. A neurologist is responsible for diagnosing migraines. The doctor will ask you about the symptoms, including the frequency and duration of seizures (chronic pain typically occurs at least 15 days a month, while episodic attacks are less common), the type and intensity of the headache, as well as any accompanying symptoms such as blurred vision, tearing or redness in the eyes, and vomiting. In addition to complaints, the doctor will discover unhealthy habits, work environment, and family atmosphere. Every "little thing" is important. But serious diseases can hide under the mask of migraine - a brain tumor, glaucoma, stroke, aneurysm of cerebral vessels. Therefore, the doctor includes in the examination plan:Blood tests (including hormones). Studies identify one of the possible causes of headaches – hormonal problems.  Imaging methods – MRI of the brain and cervical spine. The study aims to exclude brain lesions and diagnose the so-called cervical migraine caused by a violation of blood flow in the vertebral arteries.  A cardiological examination and ultrasound of the head and neck vessels may sometimes be required. Once the diagnosis is established, the physician decides on the appropriate treatment.
