The surgery requires the patient to be under general anesthesia. The next step is accessing a patient's ovaries and fallopian tubes. Usually, surgeons create a prolonged cut under the belly button to reach those organs. Then, a doctor removes both ovaries and fallopian tubes. In the end, they stop bleeding, put stitches on the wounds, and cover them up with an aseptic dressing. A patient needs to stay in a hospital for some time and remain under the observation of medical practitioners during the post-surgery period. They also might need to visit a hospital to change their dressings from time to time. Usually, if a patient would like to keep a womb, they potentially might try to get pregnant after IVF (in vitro fertilization). Still, they have to take lots of hormones to keep their baby and are more likely to remain under constant observation of medical practitioners during the whole pregnancy.
