Arm lift surgery

Age-related changes, weight fluctuations, and heredity can lead to sagging or too thick arms skin due to excess fat. These problems can be corrected with plastic surgery. An arm lift surgery:reduces excess sagging skin;tightens and smoothes the main supporting fabric that defines the shape of the shoulder;reduces the amount of fat in the forearm area. Usually, patients with significant flabbiness and unaesthetic fat localization come to such surgery after a sharp weight loss and sagging of the arms' skin. The arm lift is performed under general anesthesia. The length and pattern of the incision during the operation depend on the amount and location of the excess skin being removed. Cuts are usually made on the back of the arm and can extend from the elbow to the armpit. Excess fat can be directly excised or treated with liposuction. Next, soft tissues are tightened and sutured with internal seams. Then the skin is smoothed along the new arms contour. Finally, absorbable seams close the incisions. When excess flabby skin is concentrated only in the armpits, all manipulations can be carried out through small incisions. Smoother, denser contours become visible immediately after surgery, as soon as the swelling and bruising subside.
