About the offer

Amputation is surgery that removes all or some parts of an arm or leg along with a tumor. Radical surgery is a last resort when a large tumor has grown into vital nerves or blood vessels, and other treatment methods cannot save the limb. Amputation is a psychologically complicated operation, but sometimes it gives the best chances of recovery. Sometimes the limb removal is done after a previously organ-preserving operation if there are infectious complications or bone cancer recurrence. Before the operation, the patient must undergo several diagnostic procedures to determine the level of amputation to preserve the maximum amount of healthy tissue and altogether remove the tumor. First, an orthopedic surgeon treats the surgical field with an antiseptic and incisions in the amputation area. Then it removes the tumor and the healthy tissues adjacent to it. That is necessary to stop cancer. After the maximum removal of cancer cells, a surgeon forms a stump of muscles, skin, and connective tissue, covering the end of the bone. A prosthesis will be attached to it in the future. Next, a doctor applies stitches that remain for a month. A rigid bandage or plaster is often used to prevent limb swelling. After amputation, doctors provide full psychological support to the patient. In addition, a prosthetist, a physiotherapist, and an occupational therapist work with him.
