Polycystic kidney disease treatment with kidney cyst aspiration

Medical practitioners use numerous minimally invasive procedures to treat polycystic kidney disease. Those therapy methods don’t require as much preparation and perform much faster and easier than full-scaled surgery. For the past four decades, urologists and nephrologists have used kidney cyst aspiration to shrink the cyst for any reason or prevent it from pumping. The treatment method requires a little preparation, including some lab tests and medical imaging procedures. The whole treatment session is performed under the control of ultrasound, which helps doctors to ensure they reach the right cyst and fully drain it. The patient gets local anesthesia of the skin and tissues above the kidney before starting the operation. Medical practitioners insert a long, rigid needle with a moderate to big gauge on top of the patient’s kidney projection, simultaneously watching the course of the procedure on the ultrasound monitor. When they reach the cyst and perforate it, they slowly drain its liquid. The treatment is quick and less invasive compared to traditional surgery. However, drained kidney cysts might relapse, requiring more extensive treatment.
