Functional neurologic disorder diagnosis

Functional neurologic disorder (FND) includes various symptoms (mainly in the body's movement) related to how the patient's brain works. FND is never related to any known type of brain damage, disorder, or neurological disease and always has unknown causes. That's why conducting a proper diagnostic process is required to exclude all other possible causes of neurological symptoms. Initially, medical practitioners must converse with the patient and gather as much information as possible about their health status and symptoms. Next, neurologists perform neurological examinations to evaluate the severity of symptoms and create a list of tests for further diagnostic procedures. Medical imaging procedures play one of the most critical roles in various lab tests and medical examinations. They allow medical practitioners to know more about the brain's anatomy and help to exclude the most extensive number of possible causes unrelated to FND. Currently, most doctors prefer to use MRI scans for this purpose. Finally, when all possible reasons are excluded, the patient gets the FND diagnosis approved and receives the list of further recommendations.
