Kennedy's disease is an uncommon disorder that mainly impacts men. It happens because of a problem in a specific gene in the androgen receptor (AR) gene, resulting in abnormally expanded CAG repeats. It means a pattern of three DNA parts repeats in a row within a gene. In the cause of Kennedy's disease, more than 36 repeats are discovered. It causes issues with a protein connected to male traits and lower motor neuron disorders, leading to nerve signals from the brain to the brain stem and spinal cord. Then muscles deteriorate, and weakness is progressed. The diagnosis starts with the patient's medical history and family background analysis. Then, they do a physical exam to check muscle strength, coordination, and reflexes. Next, some standard lab tests are done.
