About the offer

Stapedectomy is a specific surgery that helps to restore hearing for patients with advanced otosclerosis. The main goal of the treatment is to replace the damaged stape (a tiny bone inside the middle ear) with an artificial implant. Ideally, the implant supersedes the functions of the stape and helps restore the patient’s hearing ability. As a rule, doctors use general anesthesia. However, the operation can be performed under local anesthetic and sedation. Ear surgeons usually need around 60 to 90 minutes to finish the stapedectomy. Most often, doctors will use one of two main accesses into the middle ear: through a tiny cut on the eardrum or a small cut on the skin in front of the patient’s ear. After the surgery, the patient will need to stay in the hospital for a while so medical practitioners can ensure that the surgery went well. The patient will also need to receive some medications before and after the treatment to decrease the probability of adverse effects and avoid any possible complications. Patients experience significant hearing improvement after the operation. Newly placed middle ear bones correctly move and conduct acoustic waves. That is achived thanks to the restored bone chain between the eardrum and the inner ear.
