Parathyroid cancer treatment with ablation

Doctors use various types of physical or chemical (including lasers, microwaves, ultrasound, and many others) to damage tumors during ablation. Ablation is a so-called minimally invasive method, meaning it is less dangerous than surgical treatment and shows low tendencies to develop various adverse effects. Before starting ablation, healthcare practitioners must verify the diagnosis and ensure that the patient's organism can handle the treatment session. During the ablation, interventional radiologists insert a small device inside the patient's body (often via a small incision on the neck) and reach the tumor site. As they get to the cancer site with the device, doctors activate it, and it starts to damage the tumor. Physicians use imaging technology, such as ultrasound or MRI, to visualize the ablation device and the cancer on display. This helps ensure the device is placed accurately and minimizes damage to surrounding tissues. The main idea of the ablation is to shrink the tumor in size and make it possible to remove cancer during surgery. Ablation also might be used simultaneously with other treatment methods. Still, in a few cases, ablation was the only treatment method, and the patient received clinically satisfactory outcomes.
