Brain cancer treatment with alternating electric fields (Optune)

The Optune is a portable device generating variable electric fields of medium frequencies called tumor treatment fields (TTF). The device is designed for home treatment in addition to radiation and chemotherapy for brain tumors. The essence of the therapy is to influence cancer with alternating electric fields with a frequency of 100-300 kHz and high intensity. Their power stops the division of malignant cells. Electric fields in the brain are created using four sensors glued to the patient's shaved head. The sensors are changed 2-3 times a week to improve the contact of the device with the skin and shave the patient's head again.
