About the offer

A laparoscopic procedure is performed on the prostate gland using minor hey-hole cuts and tubes with instruments and a camera at the end. The technique allows the surgeon to remove the gland, surrounding tissues, and seminal vesicles carefully. All manipulations perform through several small incisions — each no more than 1 cm on the anterior abdominal wall. The surgeon controls each movement visually by looking at the computer monitor. Laparoscopic access reduces the risk of blood loss and postoperative complications compared to traditional open surgery. This type of surgery is indicated if a tumor has not spread beyond the prostate and there are no distant metastases. However, a surgeon can remove cancer from the adjacent lymph nodes if those are detected. On average, the duration of the surgery is 1. 5 – 2 hours, depending on the complexity and volume. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The patient sleeps and does not feel pain or discomfort. The prostate gland separates from the bladder and urethra. The resulting free space between the urethra and the bladder is combined (stitched). After 5-7 days, the urinary catheter is removed. Control of the bladder regains after 2-3 weeks.
