Department of pneumology and allergology
The department of pneumology and allergology at University Hospital Frankfurt am Main of Goethe-University deals with lung and allergic disorders. The facilities consist of: the university outpatient clinic, the private outpatient clinic, the university Lung Cancer Center, the Christiane Herzog Center for Cystic Fibrosis, the Lung transplant outpatient clinic. In addition, the department has general wards, a monitoring ward, and the intensive care ward. The head of the department is an internationally recognized professor, chair of various associations, and studies in pulmonology. Four research groups develop the field in different directions. The equipment, both for diagnosis and interventions, is based on cutting-edge technologies and the evidence-based treatment provided at the department.
The department treats chronic, inflammatory, oncological, diffuse, and allergy-associated lung diseases. Rare diseases are also treated at the department, e.g. over 200 patients with mucoviscidosis (cystic fibrosis) in all age groups are followed. Treatment offers are outpatient/inpatient care, intensive care, cancer treatment, and conservative drug prescription.
