Department of pediatric surgery and urology
The department of pediatric surgery and urology at University Hospital Frankfurt am Main of Goethe-University treats children and adolescents with surgical diseases from birth to 18. In 2015, the department received the Certificate of Hospital Accreditation for Specialist Training in Pediatric Surgery from the Union of European Medical Specialists. The department is a part of various centres within the University Hospital Frankfurt: Center for Congenital Malformations with Perinatal Center, Frankfurt Reference Center for Rare Diseases, Incontinence Center, and University Center for Tumor Diseases (UCT). The operating rooms contain the most modern equipment for performing minimally invasive procedures. The staff is led by an experienced professor and 5 senior physicians.
The list of surgical care provided includes general pediatric surgery, surgery for congenital malformations, neonatal surgery, visceral surgery in children, especially colorectal diseases (intestinal diseases), oncological surgery in childhood, hemangiomas / vascular malformations, and pediatric urology. Laser medicine is another component of gentle treatment options. In addition, many operations are performed on an outpatient basis to shorten the hospital stay.
