Department of haematology oncology

The department of haematology oncology at University Hospital Frankfurt am Main of Goethe-University is an important partner in the University Center for Tumor Diseases (UCT) and is involved in all aspects of the clinic's diagnosis and treatment of tumour diseases. Bone marrow and stem cell transplants have been successfully carried out for more than 10 years. The clinic is a renowned transplant centre in Germany, with around 80-100 allogeneic or autologous transplantations performed every year. A state-of-the-art transplant unit with 10 beds is available for the treatment of patients. All modern myeloablative and dose-reduced transplantation procedures with or without whole-body radiation are used in the transplantation unit. In addition, a haematological and oncological laboratory with DIN EN ISO certifications functions at the department.

Systemic haematological diseases and oncological diseases are treated at the department. A special emphasis in treatment lies in different types of transplantation, including for older patients (up to 70 years). Another critical aspect of the work at the department is the initiation and participation in therapy optimization studies. New procedures such as immunotherapy or molecular therapies are used and further developed in the context of transplantations.
