About the department

The department of gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine at University Hospital Frankfurt am Main of Goethe-University is certified by the German IVF registry world-class centre for fertility and hormonal disorders in women. The department is involved in the preservation of fertility in young patients before chemotherapy or radiotherapy as part of the FertiPROTEKT network. In addition to patient care and teaching, research is one of the primary tasks of the department. The scientific focus of local physicians is on investigations to refine diagnostics through the combined use of modern techniques such as molecular genetics and ultrasound and the development of innovative therapy concepts. There is also work on further developing minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical methods. The team includes physicians and nursing staff with extensive experience in their field.   • Artificial insemination by intracytoplasmic sperm injection, ICSI (injection of a single sperm into a mature egg)
  • ICSI after removal of sperm from testicular tissue or epididymis, TESE/-MESA ICSI (testicular sperm extraction and microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration)
  • Implantation of systems that release progestogens in the uterus (IUD)
  • Surgical treatment of endometriosis
  • Cryopreservation (freezing biological material such as sperm, oocytes, or ovarian tissue)
