sports traumatology

About the department

The department of sports traumatology at ATOS Orthopedic Clinic Munich is an interdisciplinary network of complementary physicians, sports therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, kinesiologists, and radiation therapists. One of the focuses of sports traumatology is the implementation of so-called return-to-sports tests to avoid or reduce the recurrence of injuries using modern technologies. The function of the affected structure (local), but also the respective extremity (regional) and the musculoskeletal system (total) is analyzed under video control during static and dynamic loads, and a risk profile for another injury is created, which is supplemented by an individually made, targeted training program. The internationally recognized sports traumatologists in the department are active in sports themselves, but they also look after professional sports teams. These include, for example, the German Football Association (DFB), TSV 1860 Munich, the basketball team of FC Bayern Munich, and the German Ski Association (DSV).

The profile of medical services available for both professional and amateur athletes includes both conservative and surgical treatment of sports injuries and damages. In addition, special medical training programs can be developed for rehabilitation after “return to sports” testing.
