Department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery
The department of otolaryngology, and head and neck surgery at Academic Hospital Martha-Maria Munich is a highly qualified facility for treating ear, nose, and throat (ENT) diseases. Following the latest guidelines, modern treatment is available with the use of the most effective and safe technologies. In a specialized Cochlear Implant Center, a team of doctors, audiometrists, acousticians, speech therapists, and linguists support the patients from preoperative diagnostics through the operation to the subsequent medical and rehabilitative aftercare. The outpatient clinic has a soundproof examination room to achieve optimal room acoustics for impaired hearing. To facilitate communication, patients can be provided with an FM system if required. Additionally, the centre cooperates with various partners to further improve the patients' health: Hearing Aid Acoustician, Counseling centres for the hard of hearing, the deaf and CI users, and Self-help groups for the hard of hearing, the deaf and CI users.
Conservative (non-surgical) options are available alongside surgery to treat ENT conditions. The range of treatments also includes surgical removal of malignant tumours in the head and neck area, from minimally invasive techniques and laser-assisted operations to highly complex surgical interventions in the neck area. In addition, endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses is performed alongside plastic and aesthetic surgeries.
