Department of pediatric and adolescent medicine
The department of pediatric and adolescent medicine at University Hospital rechts der Isar of the Technical University (TUM) Munich is a joint facility of the Klinikum Rechts der Isar and the Academic Hospital Schwabing Munich. The head professor and the entire team at the children's clinic look after little patients at the highest university level of care. Almost 60 doctors work closely with therapists, psychologists, midwives, and a dedicated childcare team. In addition, the children's hospital has an emergency room, ten children's wards, a children's kidney centre, and a mother-child ward. The department is also dedicated to scientific research. Six research groups are working on different topics of pediatric and adolescent medicine development: Research Group for Allergy, Environmental Medicine and Rehabilitation, Research group for Diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents, Research group for Pediatric Infectious Diseases & Immunology, Research group for Pulmonary homeostasis in newborns, Research Group for Molecular Mechanisms of Sport in Childhood Cancer, Pediatric oncology research group.
Children and adolescents of all age groups are treated at the department. The specialists cover the entire field of pediatric medicine, including oncology and the kidney centre, boys' clinic, various psychological disorders, genetic and congenital conditions and more.
