Department of geriatric rehabilitation

About the department

The department of geriatric rehabilitation at Rehabilitation Centre Benedictus Feldafing offers diagnosis and rehabilitation for older people with serious illnesses. It is the only geriatric facility in the region. The acute senior early rehabilitation department addresses patients who still need acute inpatient treatment and additional rehabilitation needs. The aim is to help older patients lead as independent and symptom-free a life as possible after a severe illness or injury. Based on the department, 5 highly qualified doctors provide an individual approach to each patient and 3 nurses who guarantee a comfortable stay. More than 400 inpatients are treated in the department annually. By combining acute medical competence and rehabilitative expertise, the department can already take on patients in the acute inpatient phase of their illness. Starting therapy earlier leads to better and faster treatment success.

The department's main task is the treatment of elderly patients with acute diseases, where rehabilitation therapy can already be applied, oncological conditions, protracted chronic diseases, serious illnesses or injuries. The entire therapeutic rehabilitation team (physiotherapy, speech therapy, speech therapy, psychology) meets regularly to discuss the course of rehabilitation of each patient. If aids are required for further care, these will, of course, be prescribed and organized.
